Collins Votes for More of Trump’s RFK-Defender Health Nominees

Augusta, ME – Today, Susan Collins voted to advance two more of Trump’s nominees to senior public health positions – Sean Kaufman and Erica Schwartz. Both nominees have come under fire for their defense of HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and anti-vaccination positions, yet Collins voted to put both in jobs where they will dictate the nation’s public health priorities.

Misha Linnehan, spokesperson for the Maine Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“Yet again, Susan Collins has gone along with Donald Trump, voting to put his radical nominees in positions where they can undermine American public health. President Trump has set out to fill his Administration with right-wing extremists who are more loyal to him than they are to the American people, and Collins has voted with him 96% of the time.”

Collins has supported the vast majority of Trump’s nominees, including those who have undermined public health, refused to acknowledge the reality of the 2020 election, and numerous anti-choice federal judges – including Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, who helped overturn Roe v. Wade.
