2026 Maine Senate Nomination Process:

GOP Doubles Down on MaineCare Attacks

Augusta, Maine — Tonight, Republican gubernatorial candidates took the stage for their first televised primary debate hosted by WMTW. Bobby Charles was notably absent, but the extreme, far-right agenda he shares with the rest of the field was front and center.

Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Devon Murphy Anderson released the following statement:

“Republicans made one thing crystal clear tonight: cutting MaineCare is a top priority for them, and Mainers’ health care is on the chopping block. Republican candidates didn’t even need a question about it, they couldn’t wait to say it out loud. Mainers won’t forget it at the ballot box in November.”
