Sen. Susan Collins said she does not regret voting to confirm Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, despite his role in overturning the federal right to abortion.
[…] Collins said she was “disappointed” by Kavanaugh’s vote in the 2022 Dobbs decision, but maintained she stands by her 2018 vote to confirm him after saying at the time that she believed he would not help overturn Roe v. Wade.
Collins’ vote was widely seen as pivotal to securing Kavanaugh’s confirmation. Conservative and MAGA radio host John Fredericks said earlier this month that Collins is “with us the overwhelming majority of the time. She saved the Kavanaugh nomination single-handedly.”
The comments come after previous reporting revealing that she has not attended Senate committee hearings focused on abortion or reproductive health care since the Dobbs ruling.
