Jo-Jean moved to Maine in 1978 with her husband and two young children. Her husband was stationed at NAS Brunswick. As we traveled frequently, I found the quickest way to become part of a community was to volunteer, which I did often, becoming a Jaycee Woman and a library board member. I also was a substitute teacher and Ed Tech in the Lisbon School System. After retiring, she became Lisbon Library’s Children’s Librarian. IJo-Jean decided to run for Lisbon Town Council in 2021 and was a councilor for three years. At the end of her term, I wasn’t ready to retire from public service so she stepped up to run for State Senate.
