Maine Democratic Party Statement on Gubernatorial Primary Election Night Results

Augusta, Maine — With the election results process still underway, there are no clear winners yet in either the Democratic or Republican gubernatorial primaries. Devon Murphy-Anderson, executive director of the Maine Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“While the final matchups are still being determined, one thing is already clear: Republicans are going to be stuck with a very extreme out-of-touch nominee,” said Devon Murphy-Anderson. “From taking away MaineCare to embracing extreme anti-abortion policies and supporting Trump’s cost-raising agenda, this entire GOP field spent the primary competing on who could be the most extreme. No matter who emerges from their messy, chaotic primary, Mainers will reject their extreme agenda at the ballot box this November.”
