Augusta — Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Devon Murphy-Anderson released the following statement:

“The Maine Democratic Party is closely monitoring the situation following Monday’s fatal shooting in Biddeford involving ICE personnel. Our hearts are with the victim’s family, friends, and the Biddeford community during this painful time.

“This tragedy comes less than a week after another fatal shooting involving ICE officers in Houston – underscoring the concern many Mainers have shared about the federal immigration enforcement presence in our state.

“We do not yet have all the facts. The Maine Attorney General’s Office, Maine State Police, and the FBI are actively investigating. What we do know is that a member of our community has died, and the people of Biddeford – and all Mainers – deserve a full, transparent, and independent accounting of what happened.”
