Maine Democrats Announce “Retire Susan” Recess Tour

During the Senate’s August Recess, Democrats Will Protest Collins’ 30 Years of Failing Mainers at Her Offices Across Maine

Augusta, ME – As Susan Collins heads home to Maine for August recess, Maine Democrats are announcing the Retire Collins Recess Tour, where Democrats will hold a series of protests at Collins’ district offices. At the protests, Mainers will highlight how she has failed the state in her 30 years, from her failure to protect Mainers’ health care and reproductive rights to her support for Trump’s radical agenda that has put Maine communities at risk while further enriching the wealthy, big corporations, and Collins herself.

The “Retire Susan” Recess Tour will include stops in Bangor, Biddeford, Lewiston, and Portland.

Maine Democratic Party spokesperson Misha Linnehan released the following statement:

“While Susan Collins has spent the last 30 years expressing concern down in DC, Mainers have been forced to make her failures our concern. Our costs have skyrocketed. Health care has become harder for us to access. Our communities and fundamental rights are under attack. Yet all Collins has done is provide a rubber stamp to Trump and his billionaire allies as they cut taxes for themselves, stack the courts with radical right-wing judges, and send unaccountable ICE agents to our state. As Collins comes home to Maine to ask for our votes next month, she can expect to hear from Mainers about exactly why we are going to retire her this November.”
