Augusta, ME – This week, as Election Day approaches and a series of polls show Susan Collins underwater, Mainers are making their voices heard – they are ready to retire Susan Collins and elect Troy Jackson.
Read what Mainers are saying:
Casey Carbonneau, Windham: “Some of our finest and bravest Americans have died while Collins looks the other way. American children go without parents because of her complicity and corruption. Sen. Collins doesn’t just need to be voted out, she should be investigated for her actions.”
Ken Elowe, Bristol: “Collins has enabled and is complicit in the one-sided decisions affecting our foundational economies and traditions. Her position as chair of the Appropriations Committee should afford her the ability to leverage other Republicans to stand up against unilateral decisions being made by this administration. She is, as a senior senator and chair of a powerful committee, more than only one vote. If she truly is as effective as she claims, she should be able to leverage pressure to rein in this administration. She has chosen not to, and continually falls back on the excuse of being only one vote, meaning that she will never help take back the role of Congress as a co-equal branch of government.”
Chris Carlson, South Portland: “Susan Collins’ rainmaker status is vastly overstated.”
Jim Morrison, Vinalhaven: “During this election, a ‘Star Wars’ cantina of megadonors, CEOs and dark money bundlers is pumping cash into Sen. Susan Collins’ campaign. Ninety-three percent of her contributions are from out-of-state. These ‘donors’ want to tell Mainers how to vote…I’m voting for the candidate who answers to Maine, not Manhattan. I’m voting for Troy Jackson.”
Jeffrey Pike, Winthrop: “Sen. Susan Collins’ continued support of this administration normalizes this behavior. To a developing teenager, this warps their view of what is considered right, wrong or decent. If people want a country based on these beliefs and actions, by all means vote for Susan Collins. If they think this administration is molding our next generation in their image and endangering our future vote for Troy Jackson.”
Maurice Cunningham, Damariscotta: “The former ‘party of family values’ now worships at the altar of serial adulterer Donald Trump, and attacks political opponents’ loving relationships. Give Collins and the party of Trump the reward they deserve. Vote them out.”
Paul Potvin, Hampden: “She could be using the power of the purse to pressure the Trump administration to stop aligning with Russia, to end his tariff wars, and abide by the law and Constitution. I think Susan Collins is no longer working for the people who elected her. It’s time for a change.”
Steven Bien, Jay: “However, her legislative power is mostly for show. According to a 10/11/26 article in the New York Times, her opposition rarely makes a difference. In siding with Democrats against the administration she has been on the ‘winning side’ only 15% of the time. It turns out her Republican colleagues can easily work around her or even use her vote to their ends. Witness how her sending the Big Beautiful Bill out of her committee backfired on her and us…By any measure, Susan Collins is a bad deal for Maine.”
Georgia Bennett, York: “Susan has already, single handedly, helped to jettison our most critical right, our reproductive health rights…So wake up voters, elect Troy Jackson, and let Maine be Maine!”
D. Allan Kerr, Kittery: “I’ve always supported Collins in past elections, to the chagrin of more left-leaning folks in my orbit…Now, even supporting Trump just 50 percent of the time is essentially enabling this grotesque maniac. We need nothing short of a Democratic Congress to ensure the balance of power the Founding Fathers intended.”
Thomas Slater, Kittery: “Senator Collins and her party voted to cut funds for food pantries, school lunch programs, and SNAP benefits in order to fund tax cuts for millionaires. They have sacrificed millions at the bottom of the ladder to give billions of dollars to those at the top. Susan Collins does not deserve your vote.”
John Henderson, Auburn: “What is radical is a Republican administration that undertakes unwise and unnecessary offensive aggression, rather than merely providing for the common defense, as the Constitution stipulates; and unjustifiably kills people in our own streets with an unaccountable agency. If we want to secure the blessings of liberty, namely peace, prosperity and justice, we must vote Democratic. Make America Good Again, by voting for Troy Jackson, Hannah Pingree and Matt Dunlap.”
