Augusta, Maine – With just a few days until Election Day, the Maine Democratic Party today announced a $200,000 investment in Democratic legislative races, committing $100,000 each to the Maine House Democratic Campaign Committee and the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee to help elect Democrats and protect Democratic majorities in Augusta.
The investment comes as MDP is running one of the strongest statewide organizing operations in party history, with legislative campaign committees leading historic voter outreach efforts and knocking on more doors than ever before.
With more than one million voter contact attempts already made through the party’s coordinated campaign, MDP is entering the final stretch of the election in a strong position to win up and down the ballot. The investment also reflects the party’s commitment to building long-term organizing infrastructure and strengthening its down-ballot efforts beyond the 2026 election.
“Democratic majorities in Augusta have been critical to protecting Mainers from the harmful policies coming out of Washington and we cannot afford to lose that firewall,” said Maine Senate President Mattie Daughtry. “While Donald Trump and Republicans in Washington continue to threaten our rights and drive up costs for working families, Maine Democrats are fighting to protect our communities and move our state forward. Our Senate candidates and volunteers are running an incredible grassroots campaign and this investment from the Maine Democratic Party will help us reach even more voters in the final weeks before Election Day.”
“House Democrats are running one of our strongest organizing programs ever, with candidates and volunteers knocking on doors and having conversations with voters in communities across Maine,” said Maine Speaker of the House Ryan Fecteau. “We know that legislative races are won by showing up, listening to voters, and putting in the work. With a slim majority, House Democrats have delivered meaningful progress for Mainers. This additional support will help grow that majority, so we can do even more to lower costs, protect our rights, and move Maine forward.”
“From the very beginning of this election cycle, we’ve been focused on building a stronger party that can win in every corner of the state and at every level of the ballot,” said Maine Democratic Party Chair Charlie Dingman. “We’re incredibly proud of the historic organizing programs our House and Senate caucuses have built and we’re excited to make this investment in their success. Protecting our Democratic majorities in Augusta is essential to standing up to the Trump administration for the next two years, defending the progress we’ve made, and continuing to deliver for Mainers.”
In just 12 weeks, the Maine Democratic Party’s coordinated campaign has built a statewide operation spanning all 16 counties, opening 25 field offices, making more than 230,000 door attempts, placing more than 790,000 calls to voters, and surpassing 18,000 volunteer shift signups.
