MDP Expands Pre-Meeting Verification to Allow More Democrats to Participate at This Weekend’s Delegate Nominating Meetings

Augusta, Maine – Today, the Maine Democratic Party announced that Maine Democrats will have an expanded opportunity to pre-verify for Delegate Nominating Meetings in each of Maine’s 16 counties ahead of the Party’s July 25 U.S. Senate Nominating Convention.

Over 11,000 Maine Democrats have already been pre-verified to vote in this weekend’s county meetings, including the nearly 4,000 Maine Democrats seeking to serve as delegates, a testament to the open and transparent process that the Maine Democratic Party has put forth.

Statement from Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Devon Murphy-Anderson:

“While we are thrilled that over 11,000 Maine Democrats signed up ahead of Thursday’s 5 p.m. deadline, and in recognition of the safety concerns within our state, we wanted to provide more time to ensure that as many voters were able to participate in this process as possible. That’s why we are expanding online pre-meeting verification further: any eligible Democrat who did not pre-verify will still be able to become verified and participate in electronic voting at their county’s Delegate Nominating Meeting this Saturday or Sunday.”
