2026 Maine Senate Nomination Process:

MDP Highlights Secure, Accessible Virtual Voting for Delegate Nominating Meetings

Augusta, Maine – At the Delegate Nominating Meetings this Saturday July 18 and Sunday July 19, verified voters will be able to cast their ballot securely from home, regardless of whether their county’s meeting is held in person or virtually.

The voting system has been designed to ensure every verified voter can participate in a secure, accessible, and transparent process. This voting process has been envisioned from the start, and is even more important given this week’s violence and continued threats to our most vulnerable communities. The Maine Democratic Party wants to ensure that Democratic voters understand the options they have as they make their plan to cast their ballot.

Statement from Maine Democratic Party Executive Director Devon Murphy-Anderson:

“From the beginning, our goal has been to build a nominating process that is secure, accessible, and transparent. Every verified voter will be able to cast their vote securely from home, ensuring that safety measures and accessibility barriers don’t prevent participation. We’re using a secure voting system that protects the integrity of the process while making it as easy as possible for voters across all 16 counties to take part. This is about making sure every voter has a fair opportunity to participate in choosing our nominee.”

The Maine Democratic Party will hold a Nominating Convention on Saturday, July 25, during which 601 delegates will vote on the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.
