New Audio Reveals that Ben Midgley is Running to be “Trump 2.0”

Augusta, Maine — At a Kittery Republican Meeting, Lauren LePage – one of Ben Midgley’s closest political advisors – said the quiet part out loud: Midgley is running to be Trump 2.0. Lauren is the daughter of Paul LePage and Ann Lepage, the latter of whom just endorsed Midgley’s campaign.

The comments are just the latest sign of just how much the Republican primary has become a race to the right – with the entire field embracing Donald Trump. Midgley is one of many candidates tying themselves to Donald Trump and MAGA extremism in hopes of winning the Republican primary. Jonathan Bush has praised the Trump administration’s cuts to health care, Garrett Masson has refused to say Donald Trump lost the 2020 election, and Bobby Charles has consistently praised Trump’s policy decisions.  

Maine Democratic Party executive director Devon Murphy-Anderson released the following statement:

 

“Mainers don’t want another four years of LePage or a Trump minion who’s running to bring the MAGA agenda to Maine. Ben Midgley and the entire Republican field are racing to the right and embracing an extreme and divisive agenda that takes away health care and puts special interests over hard working Mainers. They want to drag Maine backwards, but they’ll quickly find out that that’s a losing strategy at the ballot box.”
 
 
Lauren LePage: “I would say I went through this in 2010 right after my dad won, and I went through LePage, which I would say was Trump 1.0. Having been through that before, I can tell you that Midgley will be Trump 2.0. I’ve done it before.”
