NEW: Collins Runs From Questions About Stock Holdings as She Opposes Ban on Congressional Stock Trading

Augusta, Maine – Susan Collins is running away from questions from the press about her husband’s stock holdings, according to a new video from news outlet Al Jazeera. This comes after Collins opposed bipartisan legislation that would prevent her and her spouse from trading and selling stocks.

Bangor Daily News previously reported Collins’ portfolio rose by 77.5% in 2024, putting her “eighth among members of Congress for growth.”

  • Al Jazeera: I just wanted to ask you about your household’s shares in military companies, and do you think that’s a conflict of interest given your position as the chair of the Appropriations Committee?

  • Susan Collins: I have no idea what you’re talking about. You’re-

  • Al Jazeera: Your household shares in RTX and Boeing.

  • Collins: I don’t know what you’re talking about.

  • Al Jazeera: Basically, there are people who have raised concerns about the fact that your household has shares in-

  • Collins: My household?

  • Al Jazeera: Yeah. Your husband–has shares in RTX and Boeing. Is that not something that you know about?

  • Collins: I truly don’t, no, no I don’t know what my husband’s holdings are.

  • Al Jazeera: You don’t know what your husband’s holdings are in your household? It’s been well reported.

  • Collins: We have separate…[stammering]

  • Al Jazeera: It’s been well reported.

  • Collins: I don’t understand what you’re saying.
