Augusta, Maine – As Senate Republicans move forward with a proposal that would direct taxpayer funding toward security costs for Donald Trump’s $1 billion ballroom project, Susan Collins is still refusing to say whether she supports it.
Collins has repeatedly ducked questions on whether she backs using taxpayer dollars for the project – even as a Senate vote could come as early as today.
Maine Democratic Party spokesperson Kristi Johnston:
“Mainers are struggling to make ends meet and Susan Collins still won’t say whether taxpayers should bankroll Donald Trump’s billion-dollar ballroom project. She’s refusing to say where she stands because staying loyal to Trump matters more to her than standing up for Mainers.”
REMINDER:
Collins voted with Trump 96% of the time.
Collins serves as a “regular deciding vote” on “important Republican policies” and nominations.
Collins greenlit Medicaid cuts that are forcing 61,000 Mainers to lose their health care coverage and number of rural Maine hospitals to shut down.
