Thousands of Maine Democrats Participate in First Day of Delegate Nominating Meetings

Augusta, Maine – Today, the Maine Democratic Party completed the first day of its Delegate Nominating Meetings, with Democrats participating both in person and virtually across eight counties: Androscoggin, Cumberland, Franklin, Hancock, Kennebec, Lincoln, Penobscot, and Washington. At these meetings, Democrats from across the state are selecting delegates who will represent their counties at the Maine Democratic Party’s Nominating Convention on Saturday, July 25, where delegates will vote to choose the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.

The full list of delegate results by county is available HERE.

The remaining eight county meetings will take place tomorrow, July 19. Every verified voter will be able to cast a ballot from home, regardless of whether their county meeting is held in-person or virtually.

More than 19,000 Maine Democrats have already been pre-verified to vote in this weekend’s county meetings or have voted, including nearly 4,000 Democrats seeking to serve as delegates.

Maine Democratic Party Chair Charlie Dingman released the following statement:

“We’ve been inspired by the enthusiasm and engagement we’ve seen across Maine today. These county meetings are the crucial first step in ensuring that the voices of Democrats from across the state take part in selecting our nominee. We’ve worked hard to build a process that is representative, transparent, and accessible, with equal opportunities for every candidate, allowing verified Democratic voters to participate from anywhere in Maine.”
