Collins Fails to Stop Republicans From Granting Trump Unilateral Power

Augusta, Maine – Susan Collins just failed to stop Washington Republicans from handing Donald Trump unilateral power over spending and legislation. Today, Senate Republicans voted to advance and remove a bill out of the Appropriations Committee that would gut funding for public broadcasting, including Maine Public Radio, hindering Mainers ability to get news, especially in rural areas.

Susan Collins refused to use the power and seniority she campaigns on to prevent this bill from moving forward.

Maine Democratic Party spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“Susan Collins has failed to stop Republicans from handing even more power over to Donald Trump, flying in the face of her own campaign promises to use her power and seniority to deliver for Mainers. Collins’ continued failures to use the power she ran on and voters elected her to wield in Washington will lead to her defeat in 2026.”
