MDP Statement on Susan Collins’ Decision on Todd Blanche Nomination

Augusta, ME – In response to Susan Collins announcing her opposition to Todd Blanche’s confirmation, Maine Democratic Party spokesperson Misha Linnehan released the following statement:

“Once again, Susan Collins waited until Todd Blanche’s confirmation was all but assured to conveniently announce her opposition. But Mainers see through her charade, after she voted with Trump 96% of the time, including votes for some of his most extreme, right-wing nominees. Maine deserves a Senator who will actually stand up to Trump’s harmful agenda.”

Collins has supported the vast majority of Trump’s nominees, including those who have undermined public health, refused to acknowledge the reality of the 2020 election, and numerous anti-choice federal judges – including Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch, who helped overturn Roe v. Wade.
