MDP Statement on Three Months Since the Murder of Johan Sebastian Guerrero

Augusta, ME – Three months after ICE murdered Johan Sebastian Guerrero on the streets of Biddeford, Devon Murphy-Anderson, Executive Director of the Maine Democratic Party, released the following statement:

“Three months ago, Johan Sebastian Guerrero was murdered by Donald Trump’s rogue and lawless ICE. Just a month before the killing, Susan Collins voted to give ICE $70 billion with no guardrails, and she still doesn’t regret it. Mainers will never forget that instead of working to keep us safe, our senior senator gave Donald Trump a blank check, and now, a Maine child will never see her father again.”

One month before ICE killed a man in Biddeford without a body camera recording, Collins voted to give ICE $70 billion with no guardrails and voted against an amendment that would have required agents to wear active body cameras. Following the shooting, Collins faced immense pressure and protest from Mainers for her failure to hold ICE accountable.
