A resounding 85% of verified voters cast ballots

Augusta, Maine – Today, the Maine Democratic Party completed the final day of its Delegate Nominating Meetings, with Democrats participating both in person and virtually across eight counties: Aroostook, Knox, Oxford, Piscataquis, Sagadahoc, Somerset, Waldo, and York. At these meetings, Democrats from across the state selected the delegates, who will represent their respective counties at the Maine Democratic Party’s Nominating Convention on Saturday, July 25, where delegates will vote to choose the Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate.

More than 20,000 Maine Democrats were verified to participate in this weekend’s meetings, with 17,279 casting a ballot, including nearly 4,000 Democrats seeking to serve as delegates.

Maine Democratic Party Chair Charlie Dingman released the following statement:

“We are incredibly proud of the remarkable energy and enthusiasm Maine Democrats showed across the state this weekend. More than 17,000 Democrats voted in this process, both in person and from home, ensuring that voices from every corner of Maine were heard. This extraordinary level of participation reflects the strength of our party and the determination of Maine Democrats to come together, choose a strong nominee, and defeat Susan Collins in November.”
