REMINDER: Susan Collins Betrayed Maine’s Seniors

Augusta, ME – Today, after Susan Collins visited a senior living community in rural Maine, Maine seniors won’t forget that Collins has betrayed them at every turn, siding with Trump and right-wing Republicans when they’ve tried to weaken Social Security and Medicare.

Misha Linnehan, spokesperson for the Maine Democratic Party released the following statement:

“For decades in Washington, Susan Collins has been a reliable vote to weaken Social Security, Medicare, and other programs that Maine seniors rely on. Mainers deserve a Senator who will fight to keep them safe, secure, and healthy as they age – not one who will leave them out in the cold.”

Read more about how Susan Collins has betrayed Maine’s seniors:

Susan Collins has repeatedly voted to weaken and privatize Social Security and has even been honored by an anti-AARP group.

  • Collins provided a “key” and “pivotal” vote in advancing the toxic Republican plan they admit is a “backdoor for privatizing Social Security.”

  • Susan Collins voted against multiple amendments that would have reined in DOGE and protected Social Security benefits from cuts.

  • Ahead of DOGE cuts that attacked Social Security and jeopardized benefits, Susan Collins met with Elon Musk and said she was “very impressed” with his plans.

  • Collins was honored by an anti-AARP group that pushed to privatize Social Security and end health care subsidies.

Susan Collins has been a reliable vote to cut Medicare, the Affordable Care Act, and other programs that help seniors afford health care.
